Wait, What?

I was about to leave the house and got a coloring book and crayons to distract Simone.

Me: "Simmie, mommy's going out to buy diapers okay? Stay here with ah mah (grandma) okay?"

And after about 10 seconds, she leaned over to me and said, "Keesh?" (Kiss)

So we kissed and she said "Bye!" with the wave gesture.

My jaw dropped.

Wait Whatttt! Did she actually understood what I had just said? You betcha!

Way to go lil monster:D

Too Cool For School

Just a couple of days ago, I was asking my sister-in-law on how long did her eldest daughter adjust when she started preschool, remembering myself (not too long ago LOL) as an über crybaby. First interview with the principal--FAIL. She then told me she will give a second chance, and if I cry again, then it's a NO to preschool! Of course I did better on the next and passed, but first day of school (and the next few days) were horror days for my mom as I cried, cried, and cried. From inside the classroom, the bottom of the walls at the back had 'holes' where you can see, shoes/feet of people standing outside of the room. I would always, like every minute check if my mom's feet/shoes were there! Haha. I always made sure my mom is there, standing and waiting outside...til I grew tired of it.

Fast forward to yesterday, We decided to check out a preschool/day care for Simone (because I needed to work soon and Simone going to school is better than staying at home) . I'm so worried on how she would adjust to a new environment, without her BFF, that is, me of course. We were greeted by a supervisor on the door. She said hi to Simone, opened the 'gate' and asked Simone to come inside and she did. Mind you, she doesn't follow strangers! Once she was inside, she was in awe (i think) looked around, I felt she knew it was a school, walked around, and went inside a classroom. A teacher placed a toy on the table and Simone sat down, played, and forgot all about her parents. She wouldn't even bother looking if we call her. While the supervisor was explaining the curriculum, Simone went around the areas, followed the kids, went inside to another classroom, sat down on the mat. Some kids started giving her toys. Super cute. One teacher approached her and asked her to come with her, they even held hands andwalked together! Seriously these teachers have magic!

DND mode

We had a hard time leaving because Simone refused to! Wow. We haven't even enrolled her yet LOL. Feelingera lang. Great. Too cool huh. Well, this is just the first school... We'll see if she will like the others and evaluate the best one. Only tiny problem for me was the food they serve, it's bread for breakfast and bread for tea break (easy for them to prepare).... No fresh fruits, just carbs with little nutritional value. Well. I can just let her eat those during dinner at home, and no more bread at home and outside! haha. Offset lang.

The hubby wasn't too keen on putting her on day care because mother-in-law said it's a waste of money because she is still too young at 18 months. I personally think it depends on the child if she is ready. Well we clearly saw that she is! Suddenly hubby told the supervisor that he will enroll her soon and asked for a form! Ha! I was shocked and just gave him a look. (Hubby we still have to see at least 5 more haha don't be too impulsive)

Oh well at least I am relieved.

Wanted: Pedia in the East

Feels good to have a list of possible Pediatricians for Simone! The ones that I liked best are actually, not so near our house. But most importantly, I need a best friend,  someone we can trust and be comfortable with, not someone who's in a hurry to diagnose and prescribe antibiotics LOL. Oh, I want ones by appointment only. I absolutely hate queues:D I have researched a lot from talking to nannies and mommies in our neighborhood, friends, to forums and threads online, it's very interesting to read like this doctor always prescribe antibiotics, and some will also comment that they agree and shared their horror stories! Haha. Some doctors are okay, but the queue is forever. And some only give you 5 minutes and there goes your $60 consultation! I enjoyed this research of mine. I just need to make calls tomorrow.

Off to dreamland.

Sharing is Caring

Simone totally freaked out when two boys had started to play with her precious Minnie Mouse ball this afternoon. She was on the slide when she saw them. REALLY freaked out, she cried, shouted and managed to snatch the ball and ran to me (picture below). I'm talking about boys who are like 12yrs old. I told her to share but she won't, eventually the ball was into the boys' hands again and she started crying angrily (my bad, I gave it away hihi). I can't help but laugh because it's the first time i've seen her so angry to other kids. Actually it was hilarious. I just carried her and kept telling that she has to share her toys so other kids can play too, while watching the kids play ball.

"Mommy, they took my ball!"
(FYI, took off her slippers when she was on the slide 'cause they keep falling off)

Before, it wasn't like that, a baby boy younger than her played with her ball too and she took it away and said "No no no!" Cute. Then a little girl around 5 started to play with her and the ball and she was okay.

Is this a boy thing? Haha.

I'm actually enjoying this toddlerhood thing (We are conversing now!!it's soo fun to see her facial expressions and answers). And motherhood of course.

Tantrums are fun too, uh am I being sarcastic now? Lol

The thing is, just don't let it get into your nerves or you lose to a toddler.  I just laugh it out once I realize she gets me! Mothers are slightly insane. I think I'm more than slight!LOL

Toddler Eats: Mushroom Cream Pasta

Easy peasy. It doesn't have to be complicated. I am not able to give you guys exact measurements because I don't measure :p I'm like The Pioneer Woman, just love the way she presents her recipes.

I used linguine pasta, organic coconut oil, garlic, shiitake mushrooms, 1 cube (of an ice cube tray) of home made chicken stock, organic cow's full cream milk, Parmesan cheese (not the grated one)

Boil water with some salt and cook the linguine. You may add olive oil too.

Meanwhile, Put some coconut oil in the pan and add garlic, followed by the 'shrooms, chicken stock and milk. Add some salt and/or soy sauce for flavor. Remember to taste.  Let it simmer for a while, cool it down, transfer to a food processor or blender and blend away.

Transfer back into the pan, all creamy and add the pasta. Mix. You may add the cheese to make it creamier. Mmm. Place in a cute plate and add more cheese. Done-zo.

*You may skip the pasta and make this as a soup! Home made mushroom soup. Please, let go of Campbell's. It has too many ingredients! or too many chemicals perhaps?

Did it on purpose: I like the pasta swimming in cream sauce.

You won't regret.

I love watching her eat. Priceless. The mess is worth it
*excuse the hubby sleeping :)

Can toddlers have truffle oil? I want to put some:) Or just on mine. Aaand you may want to put some arugula/anything green to make it a tad bit healthier:)

*Mushrooms are a great replacement for meat and is one of the healthiest foods. It contains vitamin D, and a bunch more, and is a powerful anti-oxidant. Strong immune system builder and anti-cancer food.

I try to include mushrooms in most of Simone's meals:)

Throwing..into the trash bin

Earlier during the day, I was busy as usual, forgot to throw a diaper inside our bedroom. Much to my surprise, Simone entered the room, saw the diaper, picked it up, went out and threw it to the trash bin.

WHAAAAAAT.

So...I tested her. I asked her to throw an empty milk foil. Did as told.

#ProudMom

Well, I have a little helper now!!!!!! woot woot!

Rise and Shine!

Not morning persons (but we love breakfast food!) we went to the Rise and Shine Breakfast Picnic at The Lawn at Marina Bay last June 14, 2014 at 8 am. Left the house at 7! arghhhh

Excited kiddos (or mommies?)

"Bubbles!"

First, we claimed our Nutella kits, umbrellas from Singtel, Goody bag from Pediasure was given upon registration. I should have brought my big eco bag!

Loads of stuff inside!

Love the spatula! LOL

I made egg salad sandwich, and clubhouse sandwiches but had no pictures of it haha. I was planning to set the picnic mat and "style" it with all the food, but the 3 girls were all over it and grabbed everything, stepped on the cookies and spilled drinks hahah! Beautiful mess it is.

I was surprised to see her approached our mini picnic!

With Guest-of-honor Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs,
Ms Grace Fu.

(Whew! that was a long one)

As usual, grabbed my sunnies.

It was a sunshine-y day at 10:30 am until suddenly dark clouds began to appear and I felt the cool breeze. I told Ivy (SIL) it's going to rain and started packing. By the time I'm done, It poured! I heard the host announced that they were giving the goodies away since it's raining, I quickly looked at the booth of Disney's Doc McStuffins and they were distributing the goodie bags! Hmm since we had umbrellas (that were giveaways too) I told Ivy I wanted to claim our bags! hahahahahaa. Yes we did:) Simone is a fan of Doc!

We didn't get to go to all of the booths, but we sure had fun!

After which, we headed to Gardens By The Bay....Still raining, but we went in. My niece was insisting to go to the Children's playground already, and to our surprise, there were more than 20 kids in the rain! I mean it doesn't  matter right because it's a water park?

Rainy fun

Kericia in action
Toddler area

Simone had no mood for it, she was so sleepy as she was up at 7am and has not slept. We'll go back next time, anyway the water park is FREE of charge! How cool is that?

Anyways, after that we went to Marina Square to see the Minions!!! Simone loves them--I mean I do! haha. She knows them too, happily watched a short show but cried when we were up close with them! haha.

It has been a LOOOOOOONG day! Ta-ta!

Variety

Homework for tonight is finding a healthy version of chicken nuggets. Today is the second time hubby ordered chicken nuggets for Simone, of course she loves it, who doesn't love fried food? Just that she doesn't need too much oil and cholesterol at age 1. LOL. I am now introducing her to more finger foods, such as those empty calorie and nutrient biscuits, just so she can practice nibbling and more sensory skills. I think she likes the crunchy sound when she bites. She doesn't really finish one, she will give me half of the cookie and take another one again. So I'm not worried there won't be space for real food LOL. Yesterday she was so hungry, when she saw the plate she grabbed the spoon and fork and helped herself. Great. Kids will eat when they are hungry. Proven!

Easy dinner: Steamed veggies, mashed potatoes (mixed in milk&parmesan), and baked salmon in olive oil, garlic, lemon and some rosemary;p Nowadays I can't get food done fast as she wants to be carried so she can see what I'm cooking! If I put her down, she will scream ughhh. "Chef in the making".... think positive.

My phone's LCD went black again, another excuse to go out and have it fixed. Thank God for the warranty. Anyway here is her OOTD. Trying to maximize everything in her closet as she is growing up so fast! Another excuse to buy new clothes :)

Daddy's booboo ;p Diet diet!

As for toddler updates, Tantrums are so like an everyday chore, I just tell her to stop, explain and wait for her to get over it. She becoming more independent as she wants to have her own seat in the bus. Or most likely just wanted to copy us adults.

She has learned to say "Oh no!" if there's any booboo. I have yet to capture it. When it rains, she will point outside and will say "Naining" (raining) And a bunch of other words!

And she has learned to pinch her nose whenever she pooped! I wish you can tell me beforehand so I can rush you to your potty! Let's #werq on that LOL

I need more recipes:) let me know..

Shiela

While Watching Frozen (for the Nth time)

While watching Frozen, Simone threw her bottle.

Daddy: "Hey, who taught you to throw things?"

Simone: "Anna!" (in an innocent voice)

Daddy: "Anna doesn't throw things."

LOL.

Side note:

Simone knows what's gonna happen in many scenes of the movie! She will imitate Elsa calling "Anna!" and some songs she knows like she will do the tongue sound in "Do you want to build a snowman." cute!
